Wii Time

 

During the past few months of wonderful Island winter rain we have been making use of our Wii. For James it acts as a calorie burning when used with Wii Sports as he gets to work on his sporting skills including, runnning, snowball fights, balance skills and snowboarding to name a few. It also acts as a little R&R during dinner prep time and quite time when Curious George or The Cat in the Hat Knows A Lot About That comes on, they are the current favourites!  But for Jasper the Wii coming out means his favourite teething toy is availbe (the remotes) and another opportunity to try to do what is bif brother is doing. For the record, there is not room for 2 kids on 1 Wii balance board.

Hopefully we'll get some sunshine soon and give the Wii a break!

Skating: Tree Frog Style

Actually it's supposed to be a Red-Eyed Tree Frog. As i mentioned in a previous blog Jasper has found the container cupboard, and since his discovery i have started to keep a stack of plastic yogurt containers on the kitchen floor so that Jasper has something to play with without going through all the clean containers-I know i'm such a joy-kill. But Jasper isn't the only one finding entertainment with the new containers. James has recently discover he can walk and 'skate' using the containers. He tells me he's a Red-Eyed Tree Frog when he's doing this, which i think he got from a recent watching of The Cat and The Hat Knows a Lot About That. And if i ever get around to uploading videos i'll post one of him scooting around the kitchen floor like this:)

 

A Pit Stop at Mount Doug

Everyday, twice a day we pass through the Mount Dough Parkway on our way to and from school. And everyday James requests that we make a stop there sometime. Last week i decided to pull over on the way home. I had just finished the last of my midterms and had picked up the boys early to go home! Like usual i don't seem to get enough for any sort of long postings of photos i do get at least a few photos.

Tye-Dyeing 101

Last week i had to do a class presentation on how to do something and I went with tye-dyeing. For the presentation i wanted to use props in different stages of the process. So James and i went to the craft store picked up some dye and a few white shirts and we headed home to get to work... 

Step 1. Get your wooden spoon to do some spinning up of a shirt.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step 2: Get out the elastics and start tying up

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step 3: Time to start applying the dye.

This morning is a morning at home, James isn't feeling great, Jasper is bugging his big brother has much as he can (he's getting really good at it lately) and i'm attmepting to make pancakes. I always joke that my first pancake of every batch is a sacrifice to the pancake gods since you can gaurantee i will burn at least one. This morning the pancake gods must be very pleased with me, and even though i'm only half way through the batter i'm relieved that James just came in and changed his mind about what he'd life for breakfast. On a more typical Saturday morning we'd getting ready to bundle up for a walk in the rain and head over to the local rec centre for kindergym.

Kindergym is a great drop-in program where they open up there gym to 40 kids and let them go nuts with all the toys and equipment. There are a ton of ride on toys, tunnels, slides, toys to climb up onto and over, there's a bouncy castle, and hockey equipment, soccer balls and nets, and even a few songs at the end of the hour. And before we leave from there, we'll be sure to pick up our stickers at the door on the way out, which will not go on james hand or jacket the way every other kid does it, instead he will take it and place it immediately on our stroller where the collection is steadily growing.

And below is what Jasper looks like when he wakes up and gets to hang out in and around the bouncy castle, which is by far his favourite part of kindergym.

After kindergym it's usually a meandering walk home through campus for some lunch.

Playtime: Part II

A few pictures of a newly accquired toy - The Tent. It was a great little find in the laundry room (a common swapping zone for kids and house stuff that people no longer want). 

 

This also seems to have produced a couple of nice shots of the boys together. This is rare because A. I don't take a ton (although i've not been doing too bad lately) and B. James isn't fond of getting his pictures taken often and even less so with Jasper involved.

Playtime....

A series of pictures i took yesterday when i was trying get a shot of jasper's teeth. The count is up at four (two top, two bottom) and another one right below the surface!
